"YOU COUNT, CALORIES DON'T.  The HUGS plan for better health.     by Linda Omilchinski R.D

I believe that HUGS is a must read book for anyone who has ever had an eating problem be it an eating disorder, compulsive eating, yo yo dieting or has a medical condition that can be helped by a healthy eating programme and way of life.
You're probably wondering why I got into the HUGS way of life.

Well, I had an eating disorder for over 15 years and this programme helped me immensely to overcome those eating problems although they still crop up from time to time but most of all it helped me to get a healthy perspective on diet, weight and exercise.
First of all let me emphasize that HUGS  is not a "diet" but it is a healthy way of eating and exercising for fun. In fact the first thing that HUGS  teaches it to throw away your scales which of course is totally foreign to anyone who has chronically dieted.  (Which I might add is most of the population).

The book tells us about our obsession with being slim however although diets have increased our awareness of weight and food they have not made people happier.  It also explains why most modern diets in the long term not only fail but most likely make you fatter than you were to start with.

The book helps you to:

·                End dieting forever

·                Be in charge of food and life

·            Stimulate new ideas and ways of thinking.

·                Improve your health both physically and emotionally

·            Show you how you can be the best that you can be.

To end, I would like to quote my favorite passage in the whole book:

"Growth does not mean trying to be someone else or comparing yourself to other people
or accepting imposed standards of health and fitness.
It means striving to be the best that you can be with what you have been given genetically.
