Fathers

Print friendly version

Practically all my life I've spent not knowing who my father is, where he is or what he is doing. He and my mother split up whan I was just a baby so I don't remember him. Mum had to play not only mother but also father in my family. Not having a father around didn't bother me because Mum would fill that spot with perfection.

In my eyes I see families with only mums all around me, and there are some kids who get into lots of trouble because their mothers are too weak at discipline and they don't have a father to help sort them out.

My brother was getting into lots of trouble for that same reason, but luckily my Mum met my Step-dad before he got into too much trouble and before I could. It's great having a step-father.

I don't think I can forgive my real father for not having contact with me for practically 16 years of my life, so far.
